Microsoft reduced its share repurchases to $4.4 billion in the September quarter, down from $5.7 billion a year earlier. Per a market commentator cited by Benzinga, Microsoft accounted for all of the combined buybacks across the large tech group, which fell to the lowest level since 2017 as hyperscalers redirected cash toward data centers. Microsoft was described as still generating cash while peers such as Alphabet, Meta, Amazon and Oracle spend more on capex than they bring in from operations.
