Methodology

Our editorials and research reports are AI-assisted and human-reviewed. Moatkeep's editorials and research reports are drafted by AI systems that work from the same primary data you see on the site — SEC filings, price history, and computed metrics — under instructions and constraints written by us. Every editorial and every research report is reviewed by a human editor before publication. The reviewing editor is accountable for what is published. We do not attribute content to an AI persona; the byline "Moatkeep Research" (reports) or "Moatkeep Editorial" (editorials) means content produced under this process and this accountability.

News summaries are different, and we label them as such. The items on our News pages — the /news feed, the News tab on a company page, and the "Latest news" carousel on the home page — are generated automatically with AI from the linked sources and are published without an editor reviewing them first. Every surface that shows them carries a visible "AI-generated" label at the point you first see them, and every item names and links the source it was written from and is checked mechanically before publication (we hold back items that reproduce a source's wording, that fail our structural checks, or that trip our content rules). Those are machine checks, not editorial judgement. We review news items after publication and correct errors on notice: write to support at moatkeep.com and we will correct, annotate, or withdraw the item. Our target is 72 hours.

What the process is — and is not. AI drafting lets us cover more data; for editorials and research reports, human review is there to catch errors, remove unsupported claims, and enforce our editorial policy. For news summaries there is no such review before publication — the safeguards there are mechanical, and the correction channel above is the remedy. Review reduces, but cannot eliminate, the risk of error in AI-assisted text. Published research reports are frozen at publication ("data as of" the date shown) and are not silently rewritten afterwards; corrections are handled under our editorial policy.

Where the data comes from. Company fundamentals come from public regulatory filings (SEC EDGAR), normalised so the same line means the same thing across companies and accounting standards. Prices are end-of-day figures corroborated across independent sources; computed metrics carry data-quality gates that hold back figures that fail our checks rather than displaying them.
