An explosion at Intel's Kiryat Gat fabrication site in Israel on October 14 killed two workers and seriously injured a third. Intel's early estimate is about $300 million of lost fourth-quarter revenue and a similar hit in the first quarter of 2027, with roughly 200 basis points of gross-margin pressure in the fourth quarter. Management said it cannot yet reasonably estimate the full financial impact or the amount of insurance recoveries, and additional charges for scrapped inventory, remediation and under-capacity operations are still to come. Most of the affected revenue relates to server chips, where demand already exceeds supply.
