Google launches Googlebook laptop line marrying Android with desktop capability

Alphabet has unveiled Googlebook, a range of Android-powered laptops engineered to work seamlessly alongside Android smartphones through Gemini AI integration. The devices come equipped with OLED touchscreens, glass trackpads, and battery endurance reaching 14 hours on a single charge, starting from $899. Five major manufacturers—Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP and Lenovo—form the production partnerships for the debut models. These laptops enable users to synchronise settings and passwords across devices, retrieve files, and run phone applications directly on the desktop. Each purchase includes a one-year subscription to Google AI Pro and bonus YouTube Premium months. The devices are available for pre-order now through various channels including Best Buy, leading to U.S. market availability from October 4 and wider global rollout commencing October 5, 2026.
