United States Natural Gas Fund, LP (UNG) is a commodity pool trading on NYSE Arca that provides investors with exposure to natural gas price movements through a passive investment strategy. The fund holds futures contracts, options, swaps, and forward contracts on natural gas and petroleum-based fuels traded on major exchanges, along with Treasury securities and cash as collateral, and aims to track the daily percentage changes in the price of natural gas at Henry Hub as measured by NYMEX futures. UNG generates revenue from interest income on its Treasury and money market holdings, creation proceeds from Authorized Participants who facilitate share issuance and trading on secondary markets, and any realized trading gains, while charging investors a management fee of 0.50–0.60% of net assets annually plus brokerage and other operational expenses.
